Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is under a new FBI probe, and this one is focused on public corruption. The probe is determining whether her work as Secretary of State overlapped her work at the family run Clinton Foundation, according to undisclosed FBI sources as told to Fox News’ Catherine Herridge.
This new probe comes on the wake of the FBI’s investigation of classified emails stored on Clinton’s private email server.
“The agents are investigating the possible intersection of Clinton Foundation donations, the dispensation of State Department contracts and whether regular processes were followed,” one source told Herridge. The FBI is investigating whether donors benefited from their contacts inside the administration.
“No, there’s nothing like that that is happening,” Clinton responded, according to a tweet from Des Moines Register reporter Jennifer Jacobs. Experts including a former senior FBI agent said the bureau does not have to notify the subject of an investigation.
The Clinton Foundation, a public charity, had grants and contributions in excess of $144 million in 2013.
Inside the FBI, pressure is growing to pursue the case.
One intelligence source told Fox News that FBI agents would be “screaming” if a prosecution is not pursued because “many previous public corruption cases have been made and successfully prosecuted with much less evidence than what is emerging in this investigation.”
