There never seems to be any good news for Hillary Clinton. Valerie Jarrett, a Senior Advisor to Obama overseeing the White House Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, was interviewed by Andrea Mitchell at the Washington Ideas Forum.
During the interview, Jarrett said Clinton was told by the Obama administration not to use a private email server for official business. The White House’s stance is now clear, but Clinton did use her private email server when she was secretary of state and also violated a directive from Obama.
Why wait until now for Obama to out Hillary?
Here’s some possible scenarios why Obama via Jarrett exposed Hillary now:
- Vice-President Joe Biden may be ready to announce his bid for the White House and Obama wants the president that follows him to help preserve his legacy. Obama may not think that Hillary Clinton could do that. Jarrett’s announcement may be an effort to weaken Hillary even more now.
- Jarrett and Obama are more aware of how the FBI investigation is going and they decided it may be wise to distance themselves with Hillary. The Associated Press reports Russia-linked hackers tried at least five times in August 2011 to trick Clinton into infecting her computer systems while she was secretary of state, according to newly released emails from the State Department. The Russian hackers sent to Clinton’s email account at least five notices and instructing her to open an attached file, “Ticket.Zip,” to print the ticket and mail it with payment. But opening the file attachment would have activated malicious software, known as malware, that would have quietly implanted on her systems a program to spy on her activities and allow hackers to install other programs without her awareness.
What do you think?
